Contractor Estimate Review Tool
Contractor Estimate Review analyzes restoration contractor estimates (typically in Xactimate format) and generates observational findings about estimate structure and trade categories.
This is NOT pricing analysis. This tool does not determine if contractor prices are "fair," "high," or "low."
What This Tool Does NOT Do
- Does NOT provide pricing opinions on contractor estimates
- Does NOT determine if contractor is "overcharging"
- Does NOT compare contractor prices to "market rates"
- Does NOT recommend or endorse contractors
- Does NOT provide contractor selection advice
- Does NOT determine which estimate is "better"
What You Receive
- Trade Categories Detected: Which trades contractor included
- Categories Not Detected: Which trades contractor did NOT include (observational only)
- Line Item Observations: Structural patterns in contractor estimate
- Integrity Findings: Zero quantities, removal without replacement, etc.
Comparing Contractor vs. Carrier Estimates
To compare estimates:
- Upload carrier estimate first - note trade categories detected
- Upload contractor estimate second - note trade categories detected
- Compare the two lists of detected trades
System does NOT determine which estimate is "correct" or "better." It only reports which trades are detected in each.
Critical Disclaimers
This tool provides observational analysis only.
- More trades ≠ better estimate
- Fewer trades ≠ worse estimate
- Different trades ≠ contractor is right or carrier is wrong
- This is NOT a determination of which estimate to use
- This is NOT pricing comparison or cost analysis
For contractor selection, get multiple bids and check references. For pricing questions, consult multiple contractors.
Common Use Cases
Understanding Contractor Scope
Upload contractor estimate to see which trade categories are included. Observational only - no opinion on completeness.
Educational Comparison
Upload both estimates to understand differences in scope. System reports which trades are in each - no judgment on which is "right."
